A Formula Fit For Our Homes

Have you ever stopped to read the label on a product that claims to be safe and non-toxic and start to give it the side eye when you see SEVENTEEN letter ingredients that you can't pronounce?

I've been there, done that and I used to immediately discredit a product's safety if I came across an unfamiliar ingredient. But as we all know... when you know better, you do better.

As I started learning more about cleaning products, formulations, and the world of safe vs. toxic ingredients, I realized that unfamiliar & hard to pronounce ingredients don't automatically make them bad.

We want you to know what's in our products that you've welcomed into your home so we're breaking down the formula for our All Purpose Cleaner and Cleaner Concentrate below:

African Black Soap

African Black Soap is the star ingredient in our All Purpose Cleaner and Cleaner Concentrate. This powerful soap that originated in West Africa and has been used for centuries to clean everything from skin to dishes. It's made from plant extracts including roasted plantain skin, cocoa pod ash and palm kernel oil -- making it all natural, eco-friendly, and Black AF.

Glycerin

Glycerin is what keeps your skin glistening when using our products. No need for cleaning gloves because glycerin acts as a humectant, which means it attracts moisture from the air to your skin. It's naturally derived from plant sugars and it's non-irritating, making it great for sensitive skin.

Ethanol

Ethanol is known by many names: Ethyl Alcohol, Grain Alcohol, or the stuff that makes up your favorite bourbons and tequilas. It's a disinfectant, naturally produced by fermentation, that targets bacteria and viruses on surfaces. So next time you think you need bleach, think again.

Sodium Citrate

Sodium Citrate is a natural salt that helps breakdown dirt and stains on surfaces. It also acts as a chelator, which means it binds to calcium and other minerals in hard water to help prevent soap scum buildup on surfaces.

Benzyl Alcohol

Benzyl alcohol is a natural preservative derived from fruits like apricots and cherries. It has antifungal properties that fight mold and mildew, making it a very common ingredient in consumer packaged goods like skin care and household essentials.

Dehydroacetic Acid

Dehydroacetic Acid is a safe, nontoxic synthetic preservative that extends the shelf life of the product. It helps prevent the growth of mold and other potentially harmful microorganisms so you can trust that your product is clean 'til the last drop.

Essential Oils

Remember the headaches you'd get when cleaning with harsh chemicals that let off toxic fumes? Well, cleaning headaches are a thing of the past with our products. We use essential oils, known for their distinct aromas and healing properties, to give our products the ah-mazing scents that you know and love.

Our formula is a unique blend of ingredients that work together to provide a safe and effective clean that cares for, reflects, and honors our homes. And we hope you enjoy it.
